No guitar? No piano? No problem.   You don’t need a full studio setup, a fancy keyboard, or even a single string to start writing songs. In fact, some of the world’s greatest music began as a melody hummed into a phone or a beat tapped on a school desk. Whether you’re just starting out or don’t have access to your usual gear, you can still tap into your creativity — no instruments required.   -Wednesday, June 11th   Start […]

Music is a universal language. It has the ability to make us feel happy, sad, energized, or calm—often all at once. Discover how nature creates its own music through caves, forests, rivers, and more. We often think of music as something made by people, with instruments crafted from wood, metal, or strings. But what if music has always existed in the natural world, just waiting to be discovered? Nature itself is full of incredible, organic sounds that, when harnessed, can create some of the most mesmerizing music. Whether it’s the echoes of a cave, the rhythmic sounds of a forest, or […]

Every time someone hears a guitarist shred a solo, a pianist nail a difficult piece, or a vocalist hit the perfect note, there’s a phrase that comes out like clockwork: Wow… they’re so talented. It sounds like a compliment — and it is — but it also hides a dangerous myth. It feeds the idea that musicians are simply “born” with talent, as if some people are just wired to play better, sing better, or learn faster… and the rest […]

Because sometimes your ears can change what your tongue tastes. Picture this: you’re at a fancy dinner. The lights are low, candles flickering, and a delicate dessert is placed in front of you. A smooth jazz tune plays softly in the background. You take a bite — perfection. Now imagine eating that same dessert… while blasting industrial metal. Tastes different, right? That’s not your imagination. Music can actually affect how food tastes. And it’s not just about the vibe or […]

Listening to your favorite song through headphones or speakers can certainly evoke emotions, but there’s something completely unique about experiencing that same music live. The energy, the unpredictability, the crowd, and the artist’s connection with the audience all come together to create an emotional experience that is difficult to replicate through a recording. Live music feels different not only because of the auditory qualities but because of the psychological, physical, and social factors  that make it an unforgettable, dynamic experience. […]

I love how Marcos lets me learn so many songs, not just one! I like how he gives me compliments. It’s really fun when Marcos does the bass clef with the left hand and I get to make up my own song that goes with it for a warm up. It’s fun because I get to make up my own songs. I love the sound of the piano!

I really like that we get to pick what songs we want to learn in Marcos’s guitar class. I also love that he is compassionate and lets us progress at our own pace. Marcos knows EVERYTHING about instruments, and I’m glad he can share some of it with me. I’m glad that I get to learn how to read, write, and play music for the guitar. It is a lot of fun when Marcos and I play the guitar together!

I highly recommend 123 Rock to anyone looking for a music teacher!

Both of my children love their music lessons with Marcos. They look forward to their music lessons each week and come home eager to practice their new pieces. I especially love that he teaches them to compose their own pieces and inspires their musical creativity. Marcos is always positive and encouraging with my children, and he has a knack for bringing out their best. I highly recommend 123 Rock to anyone looking for a music teacher!

By attending to the interests of each student, Marcos is a master at nurturing student engagement. Our son, Jackson, has been taking lessons for over two years.
