An Oxford professor says high-pitched music accentuates the sweetness in food, making it more palatable to children. Don´t believe us? Keep up reading! — September 7, 2017 Parents of young children know that mealtimes can turn into a horrendous battleground, but it could be worse – you could add the sound of wind chimes into the mix. Charles Spence, a professor of experimental psychology at the University of Oxford whose work in multisensory eating has influenced the chef Heston Blumenthal, has […]

I once took a bite of fruit that made the crispest sound like a fresh apple. It was a loud crunch. The memory would’ve been good had I actually been eating an apple. But no, it was a banana. Want to hear the rest of the story? Read on! — July 19, 2017 While I don’t exactly remember the flavor of this banana (honestly, it was pretty flavorless), the icky sound from 13 years ago stayed firmly in my mind. […]

This 3D-printed replica can put one of the world’s most famous violins in your hands. — June 27, 2017 Usually, we associate 3D printing with ultramodern technologies like cutting-edge medical implants or futuristic space fabrics. However, music technology researcher Harris Matzaridis’ ViolinoDigitale project has gone in entirely the opposite direction. What Matzaridis has created through the digital magic of additive manufacturing is an accurate replica of an original Stradivarius violin, the Sunrise Stradivari — one of the incredibly expensive and rare master […]

Can music improve athletic performance?  Can running faster or working out harder be as simple as boosting the volume on your favorite songs? — April 7, 2017 Costas Karageorghis, author of the book, “Applying Music in Exercise and Sport” has spent 25 years studying music and its effect on the brain. Music can be a stimulant or a sedative, he said.  It can enhance mood, improve muscle control and help the brain build key muscle memories. Here’s how: It uses […]

I love how Marcos lets me learn so many songs, not just one! I like how he gives me compliments. It’s really fun when Marcos does the bass clef with the left hand and I get to make up my own song that goes with it for a warm up. It’s fun because I get to make up my own songs. I love the sound of the piano!

I really like that we get to pick what songs we want to learn in Marcos’s guitar class. I also love that he is compassionate and lets us progress at our own pace. Marcos knows EVERYTHING about instruments, and I’m glad he can share some of it with me. I’m glad that I get to learn how to read, write, and play music for the guitar. It is a lot of fun when Marcos and I play the guitar together!

I highly recommend 123 Rock to anyone looking for a music teacher!

Both of my children love their music lessons with Marcos. They look forward to their music lessons each week and come home eager to practice their new pieces. I especially love that he teaches them to compose their own pieces and inspires their musical creativity. Marcos is always positive and encouraging with my children, and he has a knack for bringing out their best. I highly recommend 123 Rock to anyone looking for a music teacher!

By attending to the interests of each student, Marcos is a master at nurturing student engagement. Our son, Jackson, has been taking lessons for over two years.
